I have always been interested in gundogs and shooting. My first dog was a completely untrained (except by himself) English Springer Spaniel.

Eventually I purchased a part-trained Golden Retriever and was immensely impressed to see what a bit of basic training could do to the efficiency and usefulness of a shooting companion.

So began my lifelong interest in retriever training and competitive gundog work.
My aim has always been to produce a biddable, good looking dog, free of inherited health problems, who can find game.

In the early years I joined The South Eastern Gundog Society and am now honoured to be President of the Society.

I was appointed to the Kennel Club ‘B’ panel of Field Trial Judges in 1985 and to the ‘A’ panel in 2001.
In 1992 I moved to the Balcombe Estate in the heart of the Sussex countryside, at the kind invitation of the Estate owners and started training full time.

Over the years I have been fortunate to have trained a number of talented dogs and so far have made up five Field Trial Champions.
The training facilities offered by the Balcombe Estate are first class and I am able to train a limited number of suitably bred dogs for clients.

I also hold regular classes for groups or individuals throughout the year and I am especially pleased to invite trainees to early season shoot days.
